Obama the Coward - The Closure of our Embassies

The olden days when we fought battles to keep embassies open.

Supposedly the evil Terrorists are threatening us.  Gee, so what else is new?

What is interesting is Comrade Obama's response to this "threat" is to close almost two dozen U.S. embassies and consulates across North Africa and the Middle East.

This is either a 100% Bullshit made up "threat" meant to frighten the American Sheeple or it is a massive display of cowardice.

If the threat is real then closing the embassies does nothing.  There is nothing to stop terrorists from attacking next week or next month.

This stupidity brought to my mind the classic movie 55 Days at Peking.

In 1900 when faced with Chinese terroristic attacks the military units at the foreign embassies in Peking stood their ground and fought back.

But those were the "olden days" when men were men.  Now we place "closed" signs on the front door and hope the evil bad guys go away.

Back in 1900 the Chinese were fed up by foreign encroachment, the Dowager Empress Tzu-Hsi uses the Boxer secret societies to attack the foreigners within China, culminating in the siege of the foreign legations' compounds in Peking (now Beijing).

Menaced by the Boxers, an anti-Christian, anti-foreign peasant movement, 900 soldiers and civilians, largely from Europe, Japan, and the United States, and about 2,800 Chinese Christians took refuge in the Beijing Legation Quarter. The Qing government took the side of the Boxers.

The foreigners and Chinese Christians in the Legation Quarter survived a 55-day siege by the Qing Army and the Boxers. The siege was broken by an international military force which marched from the coast of China, defeated the Qing army, and occupied Beijing.

Could not find the English language trailer.  For those who have not seen the movie check it out.  Though mostly done from a pro-European point of view, the movie does present the case of the put upon Chinese, Imperialism and racism. . . . . plus lots of violence for maximum entertainment.

In 1900, the great powers had been chipping away at Chinese sovereignty for sixty years. They had defeated China in several wars and imposed unequal treaties under which foreigners and foreign companies in China were accorded special privileges and immunities from Chinese law. Thus, by 1900, the Qing dynasty that had ruled China for more than two centuries was crumbling and Chinese culture was under assault by powerful alien religious and secular culture.

Another cause was the land grabs of the Western countries. France, Japan, Russia, and Germany carved out spheres of influence and by 1900 it appeared that China would likely be dismembered with Western powers each ruling a part of the country. The British and Americans wished China to remain intact, while retaining their privileges and treaty ports. The British dominated trade with China, including the important opium trade. Opium addiction was a major problem in China.
