Muslims want websites critical of Islam censored

The Religion of Peace in Malaysia

Muslim Internet Censorship
Under Islam there is no freedom of religion, freedom
of speech or freedom of thought.

The Federal Department of Islamic Development (Jakim) urged Putrajaya in its Friday sermon to consider internet censorship to stop attacks against Islam.

The sermon stated that given the challenges posed by anti-Islam groups through information technology, it was important that the Muslim community used whatever reasonable strategy available including social media to counter, answer and ward off the propaganda of the enemies of Islam.

“Muslims must be kept updated on current developments so that we get accurate information and not be influenced by enemy propaganda" reports the Malaysian Digest.

“You all can also use new media such as YouTube, Twitter and blogs as mediums to send out the right message and spread the teachings of Islam."

“While Muslims are working at strengthening the economy and the Malay race, the enemies have not slackened for a minute to run their mission to destroy Islam by using whatever strategy possible, including cyber troopers,” said Jakim in the sermon.

The Islamic body said it was required of Muslims to identify the agenda designed to erode the sanctity of Islam and to also identify those who attempted to do so.

Jakim warned that the international line of thinking, such as liberalism and pluralism, seems to be spreading fast via the internet and influencing the younger generation.

“They are launching calculated attacks by spreading news which insults Islam through the use of symbols and in social media such as Facebook and Twitter.

"From our observations, many symbols and hundreds of websites on the internet are being used to confuse and weaken those of the Islamic faith."

Jakim also warned that the use of websites to weaken the faith of Muslims was the cunning strategy of the enemies of Islam that had succeeded in bringing down a few countries in the Middle East.

Last week, Islamic NGO Pertubuhan Martabat Jalinan Muhibbah Malaysia lodged a police report against a Facebook account owner for allegedly insulting Islam.

Its chairman Abdul Rani Kulup Abdullah had said the report was lodged against the account owner, who used the name Adlin Abd Jalil, for displaying a picture of a grilled pig with the words "Allah" and "Muhammad", as well as the Jakim's halal logo on it on the posting.

In his police report, Abdul Rani urged the Home Ministry, Jakim and the Malaysian Communication and Multimedia Commission to look into the matter and take stern action against the account owner.

Sex & Pork - A young couple is charged with sedition by Muslim Malaysia

Insane Islamists
Malaysia arrests a young couple for the "crime" of pork eating
and making a sex tape (At the same time I hope).

State Terrorism  -  A Malaysian couple known for a sexually explicit blog were charged with sedition after they caused outrage by posting a Ramadan greeting on Facebook which showed them eating pork.

Alvin Tan, 25, and Vivian Lee, 24, pleaded not guilty to publishing or distributing a “seditious publication” and two other charges in a Kuala Lumpur district court in Muslim-majority Malaysia, a court official said.

They were denied bail and so will be jailed pending trial, she said. The next court date has been set for August 23 reports Agence France-Presse.

Sedition is punishable by up to three years in jail.

The duo had posted a greeting for the Muslim fasting month of Ramadan on social networking site Facebook last week, showing a poster of them eating pork, which is forbidden in Islam.

They later apologised in a video on YouTube for the posting, which sparked widespread anger. Their Facebook page is no longer accessible.

The other charges were causing disharmony on the grounds of religion and possessing or producing obscene material, which is punishable by up to five years in jail, the official said.

Prime Minister Najib Razak criticised the couple on Wednesday while discussing implementing a new law to replace the colonial-era sedition act, which has been slammed by critics as a tool to crack down on dissent.

“The insolent and impudent act by the young couple who insulted Islam showed that freedom of expression and irresponsible opinion can jeopardise the community,” he was quoted by The Star as saying.

Last year Lee, a kindergarten teacher, and Tan, who is currently unemployed and a former law student at the National University of Singapore, sparked outrage in Malaysia and Singapore by posting erotic photographs and videos of their lovemaking as well as close-ups of their genitals on a blog.

The duo, who said they aimed to destigmatise sex, shut down the blog because of family pressure in the conservative countries, where pornography is illegal.

“Moderate” Muslim Malaysia to arrest anyone caught “Belittling a Fatwa”
I guess that means we’ll have to pick up the slack.

Action can be taken against anyone belittling an edict (fatwa) prohibiting Muslims from participating in beauty pageants, says Federal Territory syarie Chief Prosecutor Ibrahim Deris.

See our original story:  "Islamist Fatwa Issued Against Beauty Pageant."

He added that even non-Muslims would not be spared because such behaviour would be deemed as insulting Islam.

“For Muslim offenders, we will take action under the syariah criminal offences. For non-Muslims belittling the edict in public domains, we will lodge a police report for action to be taken under the existing civil laws such as the Sedition Act,” he said yesterday.

He was responding to reports over the religious authorities’ move to bar four Muslim women finalists from participating in the Miss Malaysia-World pageant scheduled on Aug 2.

The Federal Territory Islamic Religious Department (Jawi) had also initiated investigations into allegations that the Muslim participants had insulted the religion by questioning the fatwa prohibiting Muslims from taking part in beauty pageants.

Jawi director Datuk Che Mat Che Ali had said that investigations were being carried out under Section 7 of the Syariah Criminal Offences Act (Federal Territories) 1997 (Act 559) for insulting or degrading Islam.

If found guilty, they are liable to a fine not exceeding RM3,000 or jail sentence not exceeding two years, or both.

Islamist Fatwa Issued Against Beauty Pageant

Malaysia, the bastion of “moderate” Islam
Nutcase Muslims say it a sin for women to participate
in or organize a beauty pageant.

Four Muslim finalists have been dropped from the Miss Malaysia World 2013 pageant due to a fatwa banning them from joining such events.

Organiser Datuk Anna Lim said the decision was made following a statement by Federal Territories mufti Datuk Wan Zahidi Wan Teh who had opposed the four finalists’ participation.

“The competition will go on as usual and we are very excited about presenting the best beauty pageant for our non-Muslim finalists,” she told Mingguan Malaysia say Asia One News.

The four dropped are Kathrina Ridzuan, 23, Miera Sheikh, 19, Wafa Johanna De Korte, 19, and Sara Amelia Muhamad Bernard, 20.

Wan Zahidi had said Muslim women could not participate in or organise any beauty pageants as it had been declared haram and a sin.

He said the fatwa had been issued on Feb 8, 1996, under the Adminis-tration of Islamic Laws (FT) Act 1993.

Wafa Johanna, expressed disappointment with the organiser’s decision.
