Caesar Obama abolishes laws at will

All Hail Caesar Obama
By a wave of his royal hand our great Caesar has declared that private businesses will be "allowed" to sell insurance.

By Gary;

The Republic stands on the edge of a razor blade.  Stray but a little and the great Republic of the Founding Fathers crashes into Fascism and Monarchy.

Our Caesar said yesterday that he will use his royal "enforcement discretion" to allow government declared illegal health insurance plans to still be sold.  How kind of him.

Caesar will temporarily not enforce the penalty on individuals.  Temporarily for one year.  Just long enough to get past the 2014 mid-term elections.

Decades of Decline.  Obama has only brought to a head what has been happening for decades.  Congress has been steadily abandoning their power to an increasingly Imperial executive branch.

Both parties have eagerly voted away Congressional power.  That power has been given over to the President or to unelected boards and commissions that in turn issue intrusive Federal Fatwas that must be obeyed by a helpless public.

Neither party really cares about an 18th century Constitution that slows down their grab for total power.

The Congressional GOP appears to oppose Obamacare (while many GOP Governors embrace it.)  We will see how this plays out.  But I see no movement at all from Republicans to cut the size and power of the Imperial Federal government.  Year after year, decade after decade, the Republicans keep voting to centralize and fund Big Government.

What we have is a Congressional "fight" between guests at an exclusive dinner party over which faction gets the biggest share of the meal.

I fear the Republic is dead.  Long live the American Empire.

The Death of A Republic
Caesar speaks to the Senate as the Republic dies and an Empire is born.
Sometimes you just elect the wrong person to office.  (From HBO's "Rome".)

Caesar Obama crosses the Rubicon.
The Constitution has no meaning to either Caesar Obama or to most members of Congress from either party.  For them it is all about using the raw power of centralized government to buy votes back home to keep themselves in office.

Sharia Law and Hand Chopping Declared in Brunei

Sultan of Brunei Declares Sharia Law
  • In March 2006, the Sultan amended the constitution to make himself infallible under Bruneian law.
  • The Sultan's official residence is the Istana Nurul Iman, with 1,888 rooms, 290 bathrooms, and a floor area of 2,152,782 square feet (200,000 m2), a banquet hall that can be expanded to accommodate up to 5,000 guests, a mosque accommodating 1,500 people. The palace also includes a 110-car garage, an air conditioned stable for the Sultan's 200 polo ponies, and 5 swimming pools.  No wonder there are revolutions against kings.

The sultan of Brunei announced Tuesday that Shariah law will now dictate how certain crimes are penalized — and that means thieves will lose limbs and adulterers will be stoned to death.

Those convicted of drinking alcohol or committing other violations – such as abortion – could be flogged.

Brunei is about Muslim 67%, Buddhist 13%, Christian 10%, indigenous beliefs and non-religious, Atheist or Agnostic 10%

Sultan Hassanal Bolkiah – who is thought to be worth about $20bn (£12.3bn) and exercises tight control over the Muslim-majority country – described the legislation as "part of the great history of our nation" and a form of "special guidance" from God reports the UK Guardian.

"It is because of our need that Allah the Almighty, in all his generosity, has created laws for us, so that we can utilize them to obtain justice," the 67-year-old was quoted as saying in local media.
Chop a hand for Allah.

The oil-rich sultanate already forbids the sale of alcohol and bans the evangelism of religions other than Islam.

It is known for practising a more conservative form of Islam than its majority-Muslim neighbour Malaysia.

While sharia law already exists within the small south-east Asian nation – which is home to roughly 406,000 people, two-thirds of whom are Muslim – the Islamic court has, to date, primarily handled family-related affairs like marriage and inheritance.

The new penal code will be enforced in phases, local media reported, and will apply only to Muslims.

However, visitors to the Brunei could be flogged under existing secular laws for crimes including immigration offences. Caning is also used as punishment in Malaysia, Indonesia and Singapore.
.
Many in the country seem to welcome the new legislation, with many taking to social media to write "long live the sultan" and "praise be to Allah". Human rights activists denounced the move as "feudal" and "abhorrent".

Brunei's leading Islamic scholar described the sharia code as "guarantee[d] justice for everyone".

Mufti Awang Abdul Aziz told a legal conference on Tuesday: "Let us not just look at the hand-cutting or the stoning or the caning per se. It is not indiscriminate cutting or stoning or caning. There are conditions and there are methods that are just and fair."

He said that tourists should not fear the new legislation as long as they were law-abiding.

"Do all potential tourists to Brunei plan to steal? If they do not, then what do they need to fear? Believe me when I say that with our sharia criminal law, everyone – including tourists – will receive proper protection," he said.

The sultan – who has reigned since 1967 and lives in an 1,800-room palace – also implied that those outside Brunei would do better not to judge the adoption of the new code.

"We view others … without any form of prejudice," he said. "In return, we also have the right to expect that others will view Brunei in the same light."

Crude oil and natural gas production account for about 90% of Brunei's GDP. About 167,000 barrels of oil are produced every day, making Brunei the fourth-largest producer of oil in Southeast Asia. It also produces approximately 895,000,000 cubic feet of liquefied natural gas per day, making Brunei the ninth-largest exporter of the substance in the world.

Janet Napolitano gets a $10,000 a month housing allowance

"Corruptus in Extremis"
Our politicians live like Kings, Queens and Nobles while the average person is driven into part time jobs & poverty.

The Constitution says Congress cannot grant titles of nobility.

Well the "titles" of nobility are not given, but the Elite Ruling Class rewards the retiring liars and whores in Washington with mountains of cash and royal privileges for their party loyalty and past services rendered.

Reichsführer Janet Napolitano acted as a loyal Stormtrooper for the unconstitutional 1984 Police State.  Now upon her retirement she gets to cash in for fucking the American people.

The University of California has leased an Oakland residence for incoming system president Janet Napolitano for $9,950 a month, officials said Monday. Napolitano, the former U.S. secretary of Homeland Security and former governor of Arizona, will be provided the housing plus:
  • an annual $570,000 salary
  • $8,916 a year for car expenses
  • $142,500 for one-time relocation costs

"Let them eat cake."

Napolitano is scheduled to begin her UC presidency Sept. 30, with her office at UC system headquarters in downtown Oakland reports the Los Angeles Times.

The two-year lease for the 3,500-square-foot residence began Sept. 1. The monthly rent is $2,550 less than what UC recently has been paying for a Lafayette home for current President Mark G. Yudof.

The lease terms were revealed as the regents are scheduled to discuss Tuesday whether to take the first steps toward the renovation of a UC-owned mansion in Kensington that had been the residence of UC presidents until five years ago. It has been mainly unused since.

The 1920s mansion, called Blake House, needs repairs and renovations that could cost between $3.5 million and $6 million to make it fully livable again for presidents and usable for such official functions as donor and alumni dinners, according to a UC report.

The regents Tuesday are expected to review a proposal for an initial $620,000 expenditure from a private endowment to make seismic and roof improvements and commission architectural and engineering reports.

One of the arguments for restoring Blake House as a presidential home is that it will save money in the long run if UC no longer has to pay rent for housing and entertainment locations elsewhere. It is about 11 miles north of Oakland, surrounded by extensive gardens.

Police block the Internet - Jordan joins the growing list of nations controlling the news

Jordan blocks 254 news websites
The government of King Abdullah II of Jordan hates that "radical"
freedom of speech and the press stuff.

Police State  -  The Jordanian government said that it had blocked 254 unlicensed news websites, 16 of them in the previous two days, using powers under a 2012 law criticised as a threat to freedom of expression.

Fayez Shawabkeh, head of the Press and Publication Department said: "16 local news websites were blocked in the past two days after carefully examining their situation.

"This brings the total number of sites the PPD blocked recently to 254, while 111 sites have obtained licences."

On June 3, authorities said they would block nearly 300 out of 400 local news websites "for failing to obtain the necessary licensing," under last year's controversial legislation reports France 24 News.

The law gave the government powers to regulate "electronic publications," requiring them to register with the PPD and obtain a licence.

It stipulates that the chief editors of news websites must be members of the Jordan Press Association, giving the government the right to censor content and hold journalists liable for comments posted on webpages.

The PPD has insisted "the decision does not seek to restrict freedoms," and that "the objective is to organise the work of these websites."

"I call on all local news websites to correct their status in line with the law. Operating outside the law, which we will continue to apply, will not be in their interest," Shawabkeh warned.

Journalists accuse the government of seeking to control who can publish news.

One of the sites blocked in the past two days is 7iber, Arabic for "ink".

Its editor, Lina Ejeilat, told AFP 7iber was an interactive website that published reports and features from contributors, and said it should not be covered by the legialation.

"We are a blog and definitely not a news website," she said.

Shawabkeh disagreed, saying that "7iber is registered at the trade and industry ministry as a news website and posts news and political analyses about Jordan, which means that the law applies to it".

The PPD's decision drew renewed criticism of Jordan from international human rights watchdogs, as well as from journalists, activists and the main opposition group, the Muslim Brotherhood, who saw it as an attempt to impose censorship.

Down with King George III
Americans did not like being "subjects" of a King who was simply a dictator and killer in fancy dress.
.
On July 9, 1776, after the Declaration of Independence was read to Washington's troops at the current site of City Hall, local Sons of Liberty rushed down Broadway to Bowling Green, where they toppled the statue. The fence post finials of cast-iron crowns on the protective fence were sawed off, with the saw marks still visible today.
.
According to folklore, the statue was chopped up and shipped to a Connecticut foundry under the direction of Oliver Wolcott to be made into 42,088 patriot bullets at 20 bullets per pound (2,104.4 pounds). The statue's head was to have been paraded about town on pike-staffs, but was recovered by Loyalists and sent to England. Six pieces of the lead statue are preserved in the New-York Historical Society; one in the Museum of the City of New York as well as two in Connecticut (estimated total of 260/270 pounds).
