Indonesian Muslim clerics lash out at Miss World

Indonesia’s top Islamic authority lashed out Friday at the country’s decision to host the Miss World beauty pageant next month, saying that women exposing their bodies went against Muslim teaching.

The pageant is already facing opposition in Muslim-majority Indonesia, with radicals vowing to stage protests against the contest even after organisers agreed to drop the bikini round in a bid to avoid causing offence.

The Indonesian Ulema Council (MUI) added its voice to the protests Friday, saying a top-level meeting of clerics earlier this month decided it did not want the pageant in the country reports Agence France-Presse.

“Exposing women’s bodies in public is ‘haram’, forbidden by Islamic teaching,” senior MUI official Muhyiddin Junaidi told reporters in the capital Jakarta.

“Even though the bikini event is being axed, the contestants will still wear tight dresses and expose parts of their body.”

The group also urged the country’s Muslims, more than 90 percent of the 240 million population, not to watch the pageant on television.

Last year, pop sensation Lady Gaga axed a concert after hardliners threatened to burn down the venue and criticised her for wearing only "a bra and panties".

More than 130 women will compete in Miss World, with some rounds on the resort island of Bali and the final in Bogor outside Jakarta. Bogor is in West Java province, parts of which are considered a stronghold for radicals.

Organisers revealed in June that the contestants would not wear bikinis during the beach fashion section, to be held in Bali, and would instead wear more conservative attire such as traditional sarongs.

A beauty competition for goats was held in Saudi Arabia.  Auction supervisor Fawzi al-Subhi said that over 170 animals are competing for the coveted title ‘most beautiful goat.’ He expects the winner to be sold for at least 18,000 dollars.

Ann Coulter appeared on Fox & Friends Sunday morning to follow up on her initial reaction to the Zimmerman verdict in more detail. Coulter maintained that George Zimmerman was a sacrificial lamb for the media’s race-driven narrative, a narrative necessary to enable Barack Obama’s liberal agenda.

“This was a media-led mob, and an innocent man almost went to prison for thirty years because of well, Al Sharpton stirring up hatred and creating a narrative for which there was never any evidence and after this long trial there is still never any evidence,” Coulter said.

“This case never should have been brought. It was purely political for the media to continue their narrative of all of America as ‘Mississippi Burning.’ They want to keep us divided by race, ginned up by race, and it’s a relief that someone who was innocent did not have to be the sacrificial lamb for this media narrative about America as being run by the Klan.”

Tucker Carlson wondered about the lack of progress in race relations, despite the election of Obama.

“It’s been sixty years since the Civil Rights movement began, and yet you’d never know that in the press,” said Carlson. “But I thought the election of Barack Obama— even if I wasn’t for it—I thought at least we’re moving past this one stage in American history into something new and better in race relations. And it turns out: that’s not true, at all!”

Coulter finished by arguing that assuaging what she would call race baiters will never satisfy them: “Enough white people will think, if we just make a black man president, it will all go away. If we just allow this cop, or this person falsely accused of racism, they’ll be our sacrificial lambs, that’ll be the end of it. It’s never the end of it. You have to say, ‘No, this is not fair, this is not the truth.’”

I could care less about Zimmerman or Martin.  Frankly, like all of us, I have my own troubles to worry about.

What I find interesting is the Racial Witch Hunt created by the Leftist lap-dog Media looking for ratings, race baiters looking for donations and Democrat political hacks pandering to the low IQ mouth-breathers for votes.

The fact of the matter is thousands of people are killed every year by accident or otherwise.  That is why court systems exist.  But calm, cool, level headed trials do not make money or generate votes for the Media-Racism-Politician Industry.

George Zimmerman may have been acquitted of all charges in the shooting death of Trayvon Martin, but the Media-Racism Industry is not through with him yet.  There is much more money to be made and votes to round up.

The next step is Zimmerman going through double jeopardy and and defending himself against charges from Comrade Obama'a Federal government and a civil case will no doubt come.

Leftists are pressuring the Justice Department to step in and bring a Federal civil rights case against Zimmerman, the Hispanic neighborhood watch volunteer.

You can expect this endless horror of race bating to be stretched out till the 2014 elections are over.

After all, you really did not think this was about justice did you?

Race Baiting Pimp Al Sharpton told Meet the Press host David Gregory Sunday morning about his plans to pursue civil rights charges against George Zimmerman, following the latter’s acquittal Saturday night for the murder of Trayvon Martin.

“Clearly there are grounds for a civil rights charges,” Sharpton told Gregory.

Publicity whore Sharpton was a key figure in metastasizing the shooting into a national issue in March of 2012, said he and Martin’s family had planned from the beginning to ask for a federal investigation if Zimmerman was let go.

“The mother and father of Trayvon Martin and I with their lawyers met with the U.S. attorneys in Florida, the day I went down to organize the first rally there,” Sharpton said. “We always said there needed to be a Plan B, but there needed to be a Plan A.”

“I watched the whole trial, and no one can say what Trayvon Martin did wrong,” Sharpton argued.

“‘They always get away with it,’ the gentleman said. Who is they getting away with what? That’s the basis of a civil rights trial.”

The president of an NAACP branch in Florida has petitioned members of the Lee County Commission to take down a painting of Gen. Robert E. Lee, calling the former Confederate leader a historic symbol of racism.

The painting of Lee has been up since 1929.  So one could say that the NAACP is looking to create an issue just for the sake of creating an issue.  Be that as it may, personally, I have no problem with taking down Lee's painting.

Sorry to any readers from the South, but Lee was a traitor and an oath breaker.  He swore to protect the Constitution and instead raised armies to kill those who kept their oath to the Constitution.  One can debate if Lee is a symbol of racism or not.  But there is no doubt he was a traitor.

Lee County was named after the general in 1887 — 22 years after the Civil War wrapped, the Fort Myers News-Press said.

“That painting is a symbol of racism. It’s a symbol of divisiveness, and it doesn’t unify Lee County. It divides Lee County,” Mr. Muwakkil said in a letter, the News-Press reported.

County Commissioner Larry Kiker said the commission would have to hold a public meeting on the issue.

“I would be looking for thoughtful conversation based upon the historical value and why it was put there to begin with, mainly because I don’t know too much about it,” he told the News-Press reported.

The painting hails back decades. The county’s commissioners in 1929 asked Virginia lawmakers to help them get a portrait of Lee, the paper reported.

The Supreme Court must be doing a good job.  In one week they have managed to both piss off and bring praise from Liberals and Conservatives.

The Court is the last properly operating fragment created by the Federalists at the Constitutional Convention.  So naturally both Big Government Liberals and Conservatives will be angry at the Court at different times for daring to be the third branch of government and operate the way Alexander Hamilton and Federalist Chief Justice John Marshall wanted them to.

Gay Marriage  -  Yes and No

The pro and anti Gay marriage sides along with the media missed what I consider to be the main points of the DOMA ruling.  The ruling represents a victory for the cause of state's rights and the 10th Amendment.

 

The Supreme Court for the first time said the Federal government couldn't discriminate against same-sex couples if their marriage is recognized by a state.

In the case before the court, New York resident Edith Windsor would have been exempt from a Federal estate tax of $363,000 had her late spouse been male.  The Court was simply upholding the marriage laws of the state of New York and equal treatment under the law for all groups.

Ms. Windsor will now get a refund from the IRS of $363,000 plus interest.

Conservatives attack the ruling from a religious, not a legal, point of view. 

The United States is not a theocracy like Saudi Arabia, Iran or Vatican State.  The courts to not exist to support Sharia, Biblical or Buddhist religious teachings.  The U.S. is a secular society with many different points of view from atheist to dozens of very different religions.

Voting Rights

Here is was the Liberals turn to scream at the "evil" Supreme Court for overturning the key elements of the oppressive Voting Rights Act.

Liberals (including most Republicans in Congress) were more than happy to keep fifty year old voting law restrictions in place against selected states.  That way both parties could parade themselves before the voters at election time and boast how "progressive" they are.

Under the Constitution and the Civil Rights Acts passed in the 1860s and 1870s the Congress has the right to protect the rights of the people from oppression by dictatorial state governments.

The Supreme Court rightly decided that using 50 year old data to control selected states for political purposes was unconstitutional.  Again, this was a victory for the 10th Amendment right of states to control their own affairs.  If that power is used to oppress a group then the Federal Courts are there to seek justice.

So-called "Conservatives" are beating the anti-gay marriage drum.  So bet it.  Everyone is entitled to their opinion . . . on a state by state basis that is.  The Supreme Court's ruling on DOMA effectively upholds the 10th Amendment of the Bill of Rights.

The Court is saying that an All-Powerful Federal Government cannot discriminate against or unfairly tax people legally married under state laws.  This is yet another case where so-called "small government" Conservatives want the Federal Government to dictate policy to the states.  The ruling is actually a victory for Constitutional Federalism.

Communist House Minority Leader Nancy Pelosi was booed onstage Saturday when she said former government contractor Edward Snowden broke the law by leaking classified documents on National Security Agency (NSA) surveillance programs.

Pelosi received the loudest boos and heckles from the crowd when she said Snowden had run afoul of the law by leaking documents to the media on a pair of secret NSA surveillance programs.

"He did violate the law in terms of releasing those documents," She-Bitch Pelosi said, drawing a thunder of boos from the crowd at the progressive conference. "I understand, I understand, but he did violate the law."

Pelosi defended Obama's handling of the surveillance programs, noting that he met with the Privacy and Civil Liberties Board for the first time on Friday.  Wow after five years he meets for the first time with his hand picked Butt-Boys who will lick his feet and say "Yes Sir" on command.
