Parents in Duplo, Ill., are up in arms over a book portraying white Americans as racist –
required reading for their fourth-graders under the Common Core curriculum.

Students at Bluffview Elementary School were told they would be tested and graded on the book, “Barack Obama,” part of the Scholastic “Reading Counts” program, according to EAGNews. The author, Jane Sutcliffe, has written numerous books on other historical figures, such as George Washington, Ronald Reagan and Susan B. Anthony reports BizPac Review.

The book begins with Obama’s life as a child, referring to him as “Barry,” and frequently mentions that he was “the only black” in various settings, a situation that caused a bit of an identity crisis for him, according to this passage:

When Barry looked in the mirror, he saw a young black man. But he didn’t know how to be black. And no one was there to teach him. 

He decided to act like the black characters he saw on TV. He started acting tough. He cursed. Was that what it meant to be black? 

As he got older, he started smoking and drinking. He tried drugs. Was that what it meant to be black?

The biography refers to Obama’s candidacy in the 2008 presidential election this way:

But some people said Americans weren’t ready for that much change. Sure Barack was a nice fellow, they said. But white voters would never vote for a black president. Other angry voices were raised. Barack’s former pastor called the country a failure. God would damn the United States for mistreating its black citizens, he said.

Attention centered on the book after it was mentioned by a Facebook page, “Moms Against Duncan (MAD)” that organized earlier this month in opposition to U.S. Secretary of Education Arne Duncan’s comments about “white suburban moms” and Common Core.  The group’s page says:

We are trying to be not only a pushback to Duncan but also a group of action. We are asking every mom (and the guys too!) to actively recruit parents to opt out of all testing. 

We only need 10% of students from every school to refuse Arne’s tests. This will corrupt the data, protect the teachers and begin the shut down of Common Core!! Moms, this can be done! Let’s show Arne what REAL mom pushback looks like!

The group has attracted over 4,000 members so far.

British parents slammed a school after children as young as eight were told they would be punished for RACISM if they did not attend a religious workshop – on ISLAM.

Angry mums and dads were sent a letter by Littleton Green Community School, in Huntingdon, Staffs., warning their children would be considered racist if they did not go on the school trip.

The visit to Staffordshire University – for Year 4 and Year 6 pupils – had been arranged as part of the children’s “cultural education” on November 27 reports the South West News Service.

Headteacher Lynn Small wrote to parents and said if kids did not attend a “racial discrimination note” would be made on the pupil’s records and would remain there for their school careers.

On top of that, they were also ordered to pay £5 towards the cost of the trip.

Yesterday parents blasted the school’s “ludicrous” threats and accused the school of trying to blackmail them.

Stacy Waldron, 26, who has an eight-year-old daughter at the school, said: “I feel my child will be racist if I don’t allow her to go.

“This is my choice, not hers, and she shouldn’t have to pay for it.”

Mum-of-four Tracy Ward added: “I was shocked by the letter. To be told my kids have got to attend this workshop is disgusting.

“Everyone should have a choice but that’s my opinion and I don’t want a stain on my kids’ record as a result.

Her sister Donna, whose daughter also attends the school, said: “It’s not our religion. We should have a right to stop our children going.”

Another parent Gillian Claridge, 55, added: “To be told we had to pay for the trip as well was just a kick in the teeth.

“How dare they threaten to brand the children racist at such a young age. Its going to make them feel like little criminals.

“The very nature of religion is all about choice – on this occasion they were not being given any choice at all.

“It was draconian move and its left a lot of parents fuming.”

But after parents contacted the school they were then forced to make an embarrassing U-turn and withdraw the threat after council chiefs intervened.

A letter from the head to parents on Thursday night apologised for “inaccuracies” in the previous correspondence.

In the letter Mrs Small asked parents to “on reflection disregard a section from the earlier letter”.

South Staffordshire MP Gavin Williamson slammed the original move –  labelling it “bonkers”.

He said: “The idea of attaching a ‘racial discrimination note’ to children’s education records saying it will remain on their file for the duration for their school career seems unfair, particularly when it is no the child’s decision whether or not he or she attends.

“It seems a very heavy-handed approach.”

[T]he new Consumer Financial Protection Bureau [CFPB] is ginning up a campaign to use “disparate impact” analysis to charge racism in auto lending. That’s the theory that looks at statistics to prove bias without evidence of specific discriminatory intent. Never mind the financial or other circumstances of the borrowers beyond their race.

That is, car dealers must provide a proportionately equivalent number of car loans, at the same interest rate, to all racial groups, regardless of whether members of these groups are equally likely to repay the loan. Essentially, if Customer X has money in the bank and has never missed a day of work in his life, and Customer Y is living on welfare and just got out of jail, they must be regarded as equal credit risks if Customer Y is lucky enough to be black.

Obviously, there are plenty of blacks who are good credit risks. Equally obviously, there are many who are not. You would have to spend your entire life sealed in a windowless room with no access to the outside world except a TV tuned to PBS not to know that there are cultural differences that make blacks as a group significantly less likely to repay their loans than whites reports Moonbattery.

To achieve the liberal conception of equality, these differences must be papered over by forcing car dealers to make bad loans, effectively subsidizing cars for those who don’t pay their bills at the expense those of us who do pay our bills, because we will end up having to pay more to make up the loss.

If all of this sounds familiar, you could be thinking of the Community Reinvestment Act, spawned by Carter but doubled down on by Clinton and Obama, by which the federal government forced banks to make mortgage loans on a racial basis lest they be accused of “redlining.” This was a primary cause of the 2008 economic crash.

Patrice Ficklin, head of the bureau’s Office of Fair Lending and Equal Opportunity, revealed that “we have found substantial and statistically significant disparities between the interest rates paid by African American, Hispanic, and Asian car buyers when compared to the interest rates paid by white car buyers with similar credit scores and other factors.

Really. Can we see some evidence of this?

[The CFPB] hasn’t published its research in detail and has instead proceeded to mount a political pressure campaign to remove dealer discretion in setting loan terms. “Guidance” from the agency sent to banks in March included advice on how to avoid running afoul of anti-discrimination laws in auto lending. 

Message received. The banks that provide financing for the dealers began warning dealers to improve compliance or risk having flat fees imposed. In other words, the dealers’ profits on loans would be capped.

Knuckle under to intimidation and regard black skin as the ultimate qualification for a loan, or your profits will be capped. I didn’t think I would live to see things done this way in America.

The pretend "civil rights" group, the American-Arab Anti-Discrimination Committee, accused a Coachella Valley High School of stereotyping and demanded a name change.

The group also is seeking a change of the school mascot.

 

The group said it was "shocked to learn that the Arab" is the official mascot of the high school in Thermal.

 

 

"Continued use of the 'Arab' mascot perpetuates demeaning stereotypes of Arabs and Arab Americans," it said. "Coachella Valley High School's gross stereotyping cannot be tolerated," reports CNN News.

 

The school has a mascot that "depicts a man with a large nose, heavy beard, and wearing" a traditional head covering, the group said.

 

During halftime, "a female dressed as belly dancer entertains the mascot by dancing for him," it added.

 

But for the school, the mascot and cheerleaders shouting "Let's go, Arabs, let's go" are nothing new. The mascot dates back to the 1930s.

The Arab mascot recognizes the influences of the Middle East in the area's date farming, said Rich Ramirez, president of the Coachella Valley High School Alumni Association and a 1959 graduate of the high school.

 

In the early 1900s, the U.S. Department of Agriculture acquired date shoots from Iraq and other Middle Eastern countries and used them to establish date orchards in the valley's desert climate, Ramirez said.

 

Some of the valley's Arab-Americans -- largely of Lebanese background -- were involved in date farming, but they mostly ran men's apparel stores and groceries, Ramirez said.

ID needed for White House tour - But not for voting

Photo ID required for re-opened White House tours, but Obama still opposes ID to vote

America rejoiced when the White House announced it would re-open for tours after cuts to funding from sequestration. But in a blatant display of irony, visitors to President Barack Obama’s home must show a government-issued photo ID to enter, but not to vote.

Tours of the White House resumed after a seven month hiatus, with the first official tour given to tourists yesterday. But for visitors looking to head inside 1600 Pennsylvania Ave., they must show valid, government-issued photo ID.

“All guests 18 years of age or older will be required to present a valid, government-issued photo identification … . All foreign nationals must present their passport,” it states on the White House’s “Tours and Events” page.

This criteria is particularly ironic given the fact that the man living inside the White House adamantly opposes voters showing photo ID before heading the the polls.

Virginia Lieutenant Governor candidate Ralph Northam (Socialist Democrat - VA) refused to shake hands with his Republican opponent, EW Jackson during an on-air appearance in Hampton Roads, VA last week. 

Jackson appeared on "Mornings on the Mall" on WMAL in Washington DC Monday morning and I asked him about the incident:

"It was insulting, but, on the other hand, I thought it was consistent with the way he behaves. Because, this spot he's been running, saying that I believe that a child born with birth defects is born that way because of their parents' sin is just a damnable, palpable, despicable lie. I don't believe that. I never said anything like that. And it's that kind of dishonesty that, to me, says this is not the kind of person that needs to be holding state-wide office. Not shaking my hand really just confirmed that. "

Dr. Alveda King—the niece of Martin Luther King, Jr. and one of America’s most prominent and respected civil rights leaders—said in a statement to Breitbart News:

I was saddened to learn today that Lt. Gov. candidate Ralph Northam refused to shake the hands of his opponent E.W. Jackson at the end of a television debate.  I am deeply burdened by the loss of civility in politics today. 

As one who has been elected to office as a Democratic Georgia State Representative, served as a Republican presidential appointee and who has often voted as an Independent, I have often said that we would all be better off without the political squabbles that tend to divide us. Refusing to shake hands with your opponent in front of a television audience takes the loss of civility to a new low. I would hope that his refusal to shake hands had nothing to do with the color of his opponent’s skin. 

In a troubled economy, people are looking for leaders who can bring everyone together to solve the problems that confront us all. It is my hope that in these last hours of the race, Ralph Northam will recognize his inappropriate behavior and offer an apology to E.W. Jackson and to all those he hopes to represent.

Dr. King’s reference to skin color is because Northam is white, while Jackson is African-American.

Teignbridge Council in Devon said the stickers would leave anyone who is not English at a “disadvantage in their day to day life” reports the UK Express.

The local authority says it will refuse to renew Denise’s license in February unless she ditches the stickers.

But the veteran driver of Newton Abbott, Devon, has vowed to keep flying the flag and says there’s nothing offensive about them.

Furious Denise said: “I think it’s pathetic. I believe the council is implying that I am racist but nothing could be further from the truth.

“I’ve had a few foreign people in my cab and I’ve asked them if they find it offensive and they don’t in the slightest. In fact, one told me ‘your country has gone mad’.

"You only have to sneeze now for someone to find it offensive. I've asked a solicitor who says I'm not doing anything wrong.

"The upsetting thing is that I could lose my livelihood and my home if they take away my license." Denise has been displaying the St George's Crosses for a year without a single complaint before a rival reported her.

British Future, a think tank specializing in identity and integration which carried out the study, says the results suggest many English people are too “nervous” to celebrate St George’s Day.

It cites concerns among many that national symbols like the St George’s Cross flag may be interpreted as racist by others, and that celebration of the national saint’s day could upset ethnic minority groups.

It also accused politicians failing to “engage” with the concept of Englishness, to help to promote more pride in it.

Sunder Katwala, director of British Future, said: “Why shouldn’t we be able to celebrate Englishness? We’re all happy to come together as a nation when there’s football or cricket on, so why keep the flags in the drawer for the rest of the year?

“It’s a bit baffling that people in England will happily enjoy a pint of Guinness on St Patrick’s Day but then get nervous about celebrating St George’s Day too. We need to get over it and celebrate Englishness more."

Golden Dawn - which won nearly 7% of the vote in 2012 elections - threatened to pull its 18 MPs out of the 300-strong parliament.

The governing coalition headed by Prime Minister Antonis Samaras, which has 155 seats, would then face by-elections.

The socialist Greek government is determined to purge its police force of any links with Golden Dawn, the minister for public order said Sunday, after the arrest of officers with ties to the neo-Nazi party.

Nikos Dendias said there should be "a total catharsis so that there is nothing suspicious that could cast a shadow on the majority of police officers, who are honest," in an interview with Greek daily Kathimerini.

Dendias admitted that there were "corrupt officers who had collaborated with Golden Dawn", which he labelled "a criminal organization" reports France 24 News.

Four police officers have been arrested over their links to the far-right party, whose leader was indicted this week along with five others for taking part in a criminal organisation following the murder of an anti-fascist musician last month.

Among the officers arrested are a former police chief of the Agios Panteleimon neighbourhood of central Athens -- the scene of multiple attacks by neo-Nazis on immigrants in recent years -- on charges of abuse of power and arms trafficking, and an officer at the Piraeus port near the capital charged with belonging to a criminal organization.

Sandra Baker told the Hartford Courant this week that her daughter, who is black, said she and other students in her seventh grade class were “terrorized” during a field trip to Nature’s Classroom in Charlton, Massachusetts. Parents of the students, who traveled from Hartford Magnet Trinity College Academy 45 minutes away, were not told their children would be participating in a slavery reenactment when giving permission for the trip.

The girl told her mother that on the four-day trip in November 2012, the class was forced to pretend to pick cotton, simulate the quiet confinement of riding on a slave ship, and reenact the Underground Railroad - the network that slaves used to travel north and reach freedom before the American Civil War in 1861 reports RT News.

White instructors, who assumed the roles of slave owners and oppressors, told the students that while on board the “ship,” they would have no choice but to go to the bathroom on each other and would be thrown overboard if they were sick.

“I went into a dark room where I had to sit on my bottom with my knees together,” the girl wrote in a statement read by her father this week in front of the Hartford school board. “My legs fell asleep and were hurting.”

She went on to describe how the students were told they would be whipped if they attempted to escape, some even forced to dance for their “masters.”

“I had to hold my head down and could not make eye contact with the white masters,” the 12-year-old stated. “I heard the instructor ask kids behind me to open their mouths so their teeth could be checked. Some were asked to jump up and down.”

Jon Santos, the director of Nature’s Classroom, told The Washington Post that the three-hour exercise was meant to teach students empathy for what slaves were put through, along with lessons about modern day bullying (the current liberal pussy buzzword of the day).

A social worker and mediation specialist (now there is a bullshit occupation) working for Hartford Magnet Trinity College Academy spoke with students earlier this year after they were put through the slavery simulation. An April report seen by the Hartford Courant noted that while some of the students said they have a new found “appreciation for what we have today,” others were clearly upset.

One student wrote that he “started to believe some of the things the group leaders were saying,” and another wrote that it “did not feel like it was a joke, did not know if the leaders were joking.”

Students told the social worker that the staff members – who Santos said average around 25 years of age - used terms such as “Going to get the dogs to eat you” and “Dumb dark-skinned Negro person, how dare you look at me.”

They also reportedly said, “You’re not a person, you’re property,” and “Don’t look me in the eyes, you’re worthless, keep your head down.”

Farming is a big business.  Like all businesses the owners want their labor costs driven as low as possible.  In the case of agriculture, farmers are very happy with the government paying Americans not to work while importing millions of foreign workers willing to take less money.

Farmers’ congressional allies are pressuring the Obama administration to ease up on immigration work-site enforcement, underscoring a conflict at the heart of a broad-based immigration bill.
          
This week, spurred by complaints from farmers in California’s Central Valley, Democratic Sen. Dianne Feinstein publicly urged the Department of Homeland Security to “redirect” immigration enforcement efforts toward “serious violent crimes” instead of “legitimate agricultural employers and their workers.”

“The reality is that the majority of farmworkers in the U.S. are foreign-born and unauthorized, which is well-known,” Feinstein wrote Tuesday, adding that she’s “afraid that this aggressive worksite enforcement strategy will deprive the agricultural sector of most of its workforce,” reports McCatchy News.

In 2008, the last year of the George W. Bush administration, U.S. Immigration and Customs Enforcement agents audited 503 companies nationwide for employee eligibility. Last year, ICE agents conducted more than 3,000 such audits.

In 2008, federal officials issued only 18 “final orders” fining employers and ordering them to stop breaking the law against hiring workers who are in the U.S. illegally. Officials collected $675,209 in fines that year. Last year, officials issued 495 final orders and collected $12.4 million in fines.

“In agriculture, they’ve been focusing on our processors and our packing facilities, and they are causing a tremendous amount of damage,” Manuel Cunha, the president of the Nisei Farmers League in Fresno, Calif., said in an interview Thursday.

The California farmers pressed the point several weeks ago with Sen. Marco Rubio, R-Fla., who was visiting Bakersfield, Calif., as part of a fundraising swing through the Golden State. Cunha said that the farmers, working with GOP and Democrat members of the U.S. House of Representatives from the Central Valley, were trying to raise similar concerns directly with Obama administration officials.

“They’re making these employers fire their workers,” Cunha said.

Border security and interior enforcement play a significant role in the comprehensive immigration bill the Senate passed in June. The massive bill, some 1,920 pages when it passed the Senate Judiciary Committee, grew even larger when senators added more stringent enforcement measures.

The bill includes a provision that requires all employers to adopt the E-Verify employee verification system within five years.

“This is something where we need to have a top-to-bottom approach,” Rep. Jeff Denham of California, one of the House Republicans who now support a comprehensive bill, said during House debate several weeks ago..

The work-site monitoring that’s incited the backlash involves audits of the I-9 forms and accompanying documents that attest to an employee’s work eligibility. Monetary penalties for employers that knowingly hire workers who are in the U.S. illegally start at $375 and may go as high as $16,000 per violation.

Penalties for I-9 violations may range from $110 to $1,100 per violation. This can add up.

Last month, for instance, the 9th U.S. Circuit Court of Appeals upheld a $173,250 civil fine against a small Washington state firm called Ketchikan Drywall Services. An ICE audit concluded that the company had failed to maintain accurate and complete I-9 forms for myriad, mostly temporary employees.

“The penalties were imposed for substantive deficiencies,” Judge A. Wallace Tashima wrote for the court.
